How to Reach Tirthan Valley — From Delhi, Chandigarh & Manali
Tirthan Valley is beautifully off the beaten path — and that's exactly why it feels so untouched. But reaching it requires a bit of planning. Here is everything you need to know.
From Delhi to Tirthan Valley
Distance: ~500 km | Time: 10–12 hours. Route: Delhi → Chandigarh → Mandi → Aut → Banjar → Gushaini. Avoid night driving on mountain roads. Best to leave Delhi by 8–9 PM for an overnight drive, or travel in two legs with a rest in Mandi.
From Chandigarh to Tirthan Valley
Distance: ~280 km | Time: 6–7 hours. Route: Chandigarh → Kiratpur Sahib → Mandi → Aut Tunnel → Banjar → Gushaini. The Aut Tunnel cuts time significantly. Most comfortable driving route.
From Manali to Tirthan Valley
Distance: ~90 km | Time: 3 hours. Route: Manali → Kullu → Aut → Banjar → Gushaini. Short and scenic. Ideal if combining both destinations.
By Air
Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali) is the nearest airport, approximately 2.5 hours from Gushaini. Flights from Delhi and Chandigarh. From Bhuntar, hire a taxi directly to Gushaini. Pre-book the taxi.
By Bus
HRTC operates buses from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla to Banjar. From Banjar, local taxis cover the 16 km to Gushaini.
